Ross Burns graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1999, where he played under current Kentucky Coach John Calipari and was a member of the NCAA 1995-96 Final Four team. During his time there, UMass enjoyed 3 trips to the NCAA tournament. Following his playing career, Ross spent 7 seasons as a Division I college coach. During his first stint at Wagner College in 2000, he earned his MBA while serving as a full-time assistant. He moved on to be an assistant coach at Youngstown State and later the Associate Head Coach at Fordham University. Fordham recorded the top recruiting class in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2004 In 2006 Ross joined Pro Hoops as a trainer; since then, he has worked closely with over 20 NBA players including: Ben Gordon, Mike Dunleavy, Kevin Love and Joakim Noah, as well as countless International Pro’s and collegiate players. In 2008, he traveled with the NBA International staff to run various “coaches clinics" in several cities throughout India. Ross continues to work with an increasing number of international programs and players Most recently in 2011, Ross spearheaded a partnership between Pro Hoops, The New York County District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) to offer “Drill & Play" as a weekly program. The program offers teenagers living in Manhattan neighborhoods with high levels of youth violence a safe and positive place and an opportunity to receive exceptional basketball training during the time when they are in the most need of alternatives: Friday and Saturday nights. Additionally, the program has begun to add academic support and college assistance. Due to the tremendous success of this initiative, he has also been sought after to assist in expanding the program to other boroughs.
